Rielle Hunter breaks her silence on The Oprah Winfrey Show about her affair with former presidential candidate John Edwards.
Hunter, who was at one time a videographer for Edwards' presidential campaign, talks about Elizabeth Edwards being kept in the dark about the affair until after John Edwards' ABC interview on August 8, 2008 in which he admitted to making a mistake.
During that interview with ABC's Bob Woodruff, Edwards denied fathering Hunter's child.
She tells Oprah:
- "Everyone who was close to, well, who knew all the facts and knew the truth said, 'Please, don't do that interview. Please don't do that interview. [Elizabeth Edwards] really wanted him to do that interview. She wanted him to say, 'You know, you've got to get out in front of it. You've got to, you know, say the truth and speak the truth. And she didn't know the truth. So it's like you can't do the interview and not speak the whole truth. She didn't know until after the interview. He came clean with her after that interview."
