Deryck Whibley, Avril Lavigne's ex and frontman for Sum 41, is recovering in a Japenese hospital after being attacked at a bar.

The band is slated to play in Los Angeles next Wednesday, but first they were wrapping up their tour dates in Japan. Their next stop was scheduled for this weekend at the Summer Sonic Festival in Osaka, Japan.

On their Twitter page, Sum 41 released the following info:



In a recent update posted on their website, the band says, "It is unfortunate to say, but Deryck Whibley is still in the hospital ... We are waiting for results and we are hoping for the best. Thanks for your support."

No word on whether Sum 41's Summer Sonic Festival appearance will be cancelled.

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly is all about the struggling Bond franchise, and the mag reports that it will "likely be years before 007 returns to the screen," due to money troubles at MGM, which has been for sale since November of 2009.

“No franchise can afford to be away from screens for that long anymore,” a former MGM exec tells EW. “You lose too much momentum. Even for Bond, it could be deadly.” A financial analyst familiar with the MGM sale added, “[MGM] should sell the Bond franchise for a billion dollars to some sovereign company in Abu Dhabi and promise to make Bond movies in Abu Dhabi from now on."

Sandra Bullock claims 41-year-old Thomas Weldon has been stalking her for years, and now the actress has been granted a three year restraining order against him.

In addition to protecting 46-year-old Bullock, the order protects her son Louis and Jesse James' three children ... Sunny, Chandler and Jesse Jr.

Weldon has a long history of stalking Bullock. Back in 2003, he was busted for terrorizing the actress and was later committed to an institution to be treated for mental illness.

There's nothing like doing press for your new movie while cruising around in a $200,000 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG! Sylvester Stallone, who's in Berlin promoting his upcoming action movie Expendables, rolled up in his white Benz to sign a few autographs for his overseas fans.

After all these years, Stallone still seems to have the swagger, the muscles and full head of hair we know and love.

Expendables, directed by Sly, also features fellow action stars Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger ... and Julia Roberts' brother, Eric Roberts.

Sly and the gang hit theaters August 13th.
