Lindsay Lohan admits that she used drugs and alcohol to numb her pain over her numerous family problems in a new interview.

She tells The Sun that she hit "rock bottom" when her dad began to go public about his famous daughter back in 2007.

"When my father was going public, that's when I hit rock bottom. I abused substances too much and it wasn't the answer to my problems. People need to know that," says the actress who has been in and out of rehab over the last few years.

She said the first time she went to rehab, in 2007, was because she took an Ambien (a sleeping pill) that caused her to hallucinate. Lohan woke up, scared and wet, in a running bath. She called her therapist and said, "'Can I just go somewhere for a month? I'm around bad people and I need to take care of myself'. I was terrified, so I put myself in," Lilo confesses.

She also says she began abusing cocaine because she'd seen her dad do it, but "It's not something I ever want to do again. It made me feel like sh*t."

"I tried to mask my problems with alcohol, cocaine and mind-altering substances," Lindsay admits. "Now I'm in a place where I don't need to use anything and I can feel emotions because I choose to."

Although Lindsay's behavior continues to be erratic, she insists she's in a better place now.

"I learnt from my mistakes and I'm now healthy and happier. I never want to be close to losing everything I worked for and aspired to have my whole life," she said. "I've made some dreadful mistakes but learned from them - that has probably saved my life."

It's great that Lindsay is openly talking about her problems and recognizing past behavior. But has she really moved on from this self-destruction or is she destined to repeat the mistakes of her past?

The couple have been dating since they met on the set of Stop-Loss in 2006. Cornish, 27, has been in Vancouver for the past seven months shooting Sucker Punch. Meanwhile, there has been much speculation about Phillippe, 35, and his recent clubbing and flirtations with other women.

Abbie was seen moving her stuff out of Ryan's house yesterday while Ryan was out with the kids. On Saturday we spotted Ryan doing the same -- out and about with Deacon and Ava, his children with Reese Witherspoon -- and Abbie on the other side of town, solo.

Apparently Ryan was feeling down ... when a by-stander asked who Ryan was, Phillippe told him, "I'm Ryan Phillippe -- I'm nobody." Awww!

Damn! Dakota looks like dynamite in that outfit. So elegant and so, er, flirtatious at the same time...

The Runaways starlet celebrated her sweet sixteen early last night - her actual b-day is on February 23rd - at Villa Blanca in Beverly Hills. What happened to the sweet and innocent little girl in I Am Sam? Let's hope she doesn't turn into Miley Cyrus or anything!

Kate Beckinsale and her hubby Len have such a healthy Hollywood relationship. On Saturday, they spent their day in Santa Monica seeing a movie and acting all lovey dovey. Then on Sunday it was off to Culver City where daughter Lily Sheen ice skates. The perfect fam!

The American swimmer has 14 Olympic gold medals, tons of endorsement deals and the body of a Greek God... and he's only 24! Damn. Anyway, check out Michael Phelps at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver watching Apolo Anton Ohno breaking new records last night. Can't wait for 2012!
